 Introduction

“Onboarding is the process of helping new hires adjust to social and performance aspects of their new jobs quickly and smoothly” (Bauer, 2013, p. 1) After successful recruitment and selection, Next most important procedure that organizations can increase the effectiveness of their talent management systems is through the strategic use of onboarding. This is crucial for HR department.

This pandemic has forced HR professionals to reinvent operations.so they had to navigate the onboarding the most critical part of the employee life cycle remotely. The benefits of onboarding can’t be overstated.

Because workers now rely on technology to do their jobs, employers must consider how onboarding is impacted by this trend and how they can use technology to positively change their onboarding procedures (Flanigan & Waldeck, 2004).

Virtual onboarding is a prominent approach to complete new hiring documents, learn office policies, participate in team and colleague presentations, get used to the company it’s culture, and acquire the skills needed to perform their digital technology roles.

Working from home leads to missing out the benefits of casual in person interactions. So newly recruit employees have even more hard time bonding with their peers. Thus the virtual onboarding experience should need to assist in new hire feel like part of the team.

When you follow the equitable virtual onboarding practices new employee will feel welcomed. It will made them more productive and it will help in managing organization’s culture.

As Department of Animal Production and Health is a government organization , It still follow the government regulations when in recruitment and onboarding. So it is yet to implement the virtual onboarding strategies. But due to Covid 19 in the future it will have to think about ways in virtual onboarding.

  • 2.     Reduced cost of business.

Conclusion

The onboarding is not easy; it requires advance planning, the creation of a structured learning platform. Onboarding helps to identify talented people and get the best from them. As onboarding can lead to the success or failure of new employees.

 But in this pandemic era, with the rise of remote working and global teams, it may have to done online. From the correct process, virtual onboarding approach can be a highly effective tool for retaining, engaging and developing productive new team members

  1. Onboarding a remote employee is different from on-site onboarding because, to put it simply, remote employees are far away. It takes special processes to set up remote workers with technology and equipment, to collect all their paperwork, and to make sure they feel connected and valued by their new team.

Almost all companies and firms strive their best in innovating new techniques in welcoming their new employees to generate a feeling of ease and comfort.
